THE PLAY'S THE THING
"The words 'staged reading' have become two of the most frightening words one hears when invited to events in New York City over the past decade or more.  What The Play's The Thing has to offer is so far beyond what one has come to expect that there actually should be a fresh term for what they are doing."
-Joseph Moran
Since 1999, THE PLAY'S THE THING has been a venue for experienced and gifted theater artists to read plays for personal and professional enjoyment.

We produce fully-staged Equity readings of classic Broadway/Off-Broadway comedies, dramas, and musicals, often focusing on what we consider to be the "Golden Age" of American theater and the "well-made play."

We are also a resource for playwrights with new work in development.
